Liquid Stainless Steel

The flagship products of Burke Industrial Coatings are Superlife 316®, Supertemp 316™ and Steel Plus 316™ coatings made of liquid stainless steel. These stainless steel finishes are heavily pigmented with Alloy 316 stainless steel flake to provide outstanding corrosion resistance and maximum long-term durability even under extreme exposures. Since liquid stainless steel is essentially inert, it provides resistance to general weather, coastal environments, chemical fumes, spillage and abrasion – far exceeding any other coating, and their U.V. resistance is superior to any product.

Liquid Stainless Steel Coating

Each liquid stainless steel coating can be used as a direct to metal finish on galvanized steel, tin and aluminum. Superlife 316 DTMR™, Steel Tuff 316® and Steel Plus 316™ can be used direct to metal on steel substrates in mild exposures. More severe exposures will require a primer before applying liquid stainless steel. All water-based liquid stainless steel products may be applied directly to properly cured new or unpainted concrete.

Antimicrobial Protected Paint

Silver Bullet AM

Increased emphasis on microbe free environments creates the need for enhanced measures to reduce bacterial presence. To address the industries need for effective protective coatings, Burke Industrial Coatings has developed an ultra high performance epoxy coating antimicrobial protected paint system. The product identified as Silver Bullet AM®, inhibits the growth of a broad spectrum of bacteria, mold and fungi in addition to providing long term protection against severe wash down chemicals.

Highly durable and corrosion-resistant, Silver Bullet’s antimicrobial protected paint active ingredient is its namesake: silver, a safe and natural antimicrobial with proven success in food processing applications. Proven safe for human contact, silver is effective in over 650 strains of bacteria, yeast, fungi and molds. A high performance epoxy coating, Silver Bullet AM® antimicrobial protected paint can be applied to plant equipment, walls, ceilings, hand rails and other appropriate surfaces to reduce microbiological contamination and propagation.

Mildew Proof Paint

Silver inhibits reproduction, interrupts metabolism, and disrupts cell wall functions of many molds, yeasts, and bacteria. Harnessing the power of silver in its ionic form, Silver Bullet’s antimicrobial protected paint compound has been proven to provide microbial efficacy within hours, and able to maintain optimal performance for years. Silver Bullet AM® also contains elemental copper which makes it a mildew proof paint. Silver Bullet’s antimicrobial protected paint additive uses a zeolite carrier that allows a controlled and effective release of the silver ions. The controlled release of silver and copper ions results in a long lasting, on-demand, antimicrobial effect on bacteria and suppresses future contamination. Silver’s stable ion exchange process represents a significant improvement over standard organic antimicrobials that dissipate rapidly.

Rigorous laboratory studies subjecting Silver Bullet AM® antimicrobial protected paint coated equipment through intense test conditions prove that the coatings can withstand a wide array of chemical and temperature extremes. Independent tests show that even under severe conditions, Silver Bullet AM® antimicrobial protected paint continues to provide a significant reduction in various types of bacteria.

Epoxy Paint

High Performance Epoxy Coatings

Burke Industrial Coatings’ Steel Plus CE Series high performance epoxy paint coatings are a tough, durable resin system that protects equipment and surfaces in extremely corrosive environments. The unique formula developed by Burke is superior to other products on the market because it is cured with more effective set of organic compounds. The results is a sophisticated epoxy paint coatings system, available in clear and pigmented finishes including Alloy 316 Liquid Stainless Steel, that can stand up to everything from salt water to harsh chemical solvents and cleaners.

Differences in Chemistry

The difference is in the chemistry. Burke improved the formula for conventional epoxy paint coatings by combining a water based epoxy paint with a special curing agent that creates a denser, tighter polymer film increasing chemical resistance. Conventional epoxy paint coatings have a cross-linked chemical structure you can compare to the wire mesh of a screen door: The strands are hooked together, but there are many holes between the molecules. Burke high performance epoxy coatings are more like a dense fabric, they have a tighter weave and the spaces between the molecules are much smaller.

Steel Plus CE Series

Burke’s Steel Plus CE Series high performance epoxy coatings have proven to be the solution to some of industry’s most persistent corrosion problems. Burke’s Steel Plus CE series epoxy paint is ideal for use by equipment manufacturers due to their tenacious adhesion and user-friendliness. They are water thinned, making them safe for workers and the environment. They are free of all hazardous air pollutants on the federal government’s “HAPS” list; have very low odor; and can be applied to steel, galvanized steel, tin, aluminum and wood in a variety of ways – brush, roller, air-atomization, airless or hot spray.

Steel Plus CE series high performance epoxy coatings can be used in maintenance applications at the processing or packaging plant as well as in OEM applications during machine fabrication. Steel Plus CE series epoxy paint is resistant to alkalis and acids as harsh as 40% sulfuric acid, and are impact resistant up to 160 pounds per inch, making them impervious to high-pressure wash down and other severe factory conditions.
